Theater duo plan spring wedding

Impending motherhood looks good on singer Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, who just completed a "Hana Hou!" concert at the Hawai'i Theatre, where fiance John Austin proposed on stage with the requisite ring. Will her seventh CD, recorded with new producer Michael Ruff and expected in April, beat the arrival of her baby (due April 9)? ...

ON THE RECORD: At 62, Mike Watson, ex-president of the Musicians Union in Wichita, Kan., has completed his first disc. It was produced and mixed by Audy Kimura, who enlisted the services of bassist John Kolivas and guitarist Jimmy Funai, featuring 15 jazz standards from the 1940s and '50s. A vocalist-pianist and a retired (35 years) history teacher at Nanakuli High, Watson won't sell the discs, opting to hand 'em out to family and friends and former students like Danny Couch, Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, Jerome Koko, Joe Momoa and Rusty Keaulana. ...
