As members of the special teams and scout units, Micah Lau and Victor "Bully" Fergerstrom represent the "depth" in UH's depth chart. Three weeks ago, both earned football scholarships, and now are competing for playing time.

MICAH LAU

Hometown: Honolulu.

Class: Sophomore.

Height: 5-9.

Weight: 210 pounds.

40 time: 4.7 seconds.

Bench press: 225 pounds 20 times. "I could have done six more, but they told us to stop after 20."

Maximum bench: 375 pounds

Non-football talent: "Eating Hawaiian food. I once ate $35 worth of Hawaiian food at Helena's (Hawaiian Food)."

Did you know: "That I'm Maori and Hawaiian."

O'ahu or Big Island: "O'ahu, because of the faster pace."

Tasha Kobashigawa or Diane Ako: "Tasha, because of her looks."

West O'ahu or UH baseball team: "I'd say 'Ewa Beach. The kids are an inspiration. I played on a Little League team when I was young. We went to the Mainland, but we never went as far as them."

Put me in, Coach: "Because of my heart and guts."

VICTOR "BULLY" FERGERSTROM

Hometown: Kamuela, Big Island.

Class: Junior. Height: 5-10. Weight: 212 pounds.

40 time: 4.7 seconds.

Bench press: 225 pounds 27 times.

Maximum bench: 435 pounds.

Non-football talent: "I hunt and fish. I hunt all big game — pigs, goats, sheep, deer. The biggest? Wild cattle. That was the biggest. I hunted with dogs and a gun."

Did you know: "I went to FBI school for two years in Quantico, Virginia, right after high school."

O'ahu or Big Island: "I'd say the Big Island. That's how I grew up, my lifestyle. I'm used to being in the mountains and ocean. On O'ahu, there aren't places I can go, like when I'm at home."

Tasha Kobashigawa or Diane Ako: "I like both of them. I can't choose."

West O'ahu or UH baseball team: "I'll go with the 'Ewa Beach baseball team. They're the young guys, up and coming. They're showing everyone what Hawai'i's got right now."

Put me in, Coach: "I work hard and do the best I can."
