DANCE: AUG. 26-28

Heralded dance troupe 24-VII Danceforce gets ready to do it again at "Deja Vu 2." Joining the award-winning team will be Castle High School Danceforce, for a cast of more than 100 dancers performing contemporary jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and gym-acrobatics. Tickets are $10 presale, $12 during the show's run.

FESTIVAL: SEPT. 2-11

The 2nd annual multimedia arts festival and conference GiRL FeST Hawaii offers an art exhibit (5-9 p.m. Sept. 9 reception at The ARTS at Marks Garage; free); an international film festival at the Varsity theaters (preview Sept. 2); a poetry slam (doors open at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at The ARTS at Marks Garage; $5-$10); concerts by Mystic (9 p.m. Sept. 3 at Next Door and thirtyninehotel; $10, $15), The Devil Cats (10 p.m. Sept. 8 at Wave Waikiki; $8, $10), who also are in a movie of the same name, and other performers. And there's a lot more. GiRL FeST's mission is to prevent violence against girls and women through education and art.

STAGE: SEPT. 2-24

Honolulu Theatre for Youth opens its 2005-06 season at its new home Tenney Theater with a revival of "Nothing is the Same." Written by local playwright Y York, the World War II comedy-drama will go on to tour Seattle Children's Theatre in October after its Honolulu run. This play is recommended for ages 7 and older. Tickets are $16 general and $8 those 18 and younger or those over 60. MIlitary may take advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free offer.

Go for a wild ocean ride when 'Ohi'a Productions presents "The Adventures of Gary and Harry: A Tale of Two Turtles." Written by Lisa Matsumoto, with music and lyrics by Roslyn and Marco Catracchia, this original musical goes on an adventure under the sea where turtles discover the meaning of friendship. Tickets range from $10 to $25.

The stage season at UH-Manoa starts off with the provocative Prime Time Theatre offering "Vinegar Tom." Written by Caryl Churchill, with live music composed by Sean T.C. O'Malley, this drama examines the history of women's roles in society. Lurana Donnels O'Malley directs. This play is recommended for mature audiences. Tickets are $10 general, $9 seniors, military, UH faculty/staff and non-UH Manoa students, and $3 UH Manoa students.

CONCERT: SEPT. 9, 11

The Honolulu Symphony's Halekulani MasterWorks season gets off to a majestic start with "Depth and Passion." Guitarist Christopher Parkening joins the symphony for a program that includes works by Ravel, Rodrigo and Mussorgsky. Rossen Milanov conducts. Tickets range from $23 to $70.

CONCERT: SEPT. 11

Shine on with the alternative-rock sounds of Collective Soul when Kona Brewing Co. and Star 101.9 present the "Windows of Hope Family Relief Fun Benefit." The concert raises funds for the families of victims of the Sept. 11 tragedy, including Honolulu pastry chef Heather Ho. The event includes an auction. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door and $150 VIP.
