Matthew Suiter hit a two-run homer and RBI single as O'ahu defeated New Orleans, 5-0, yesterday in the Babe Ruth (ages 13-15) World Series at Abbeville, La.

O'ahu (4-0) handed New Orleans (3-1) its first loss of the tournament to advance to tomorrow's semifinal round.

Harrison Ishida Jr. allowed four hits over six innings while striking out six and walking five to earn the victory. Paul Snieder finished with a perfect seventh inning.

Joshua Bninski and Suiter hit run-scoring singles as O'ahu took a 2-0 lead in the third.

O'ahu then bunched three of its eight hits in the fifth to score three runs. Tyler Young opened the inning with a single to right. Bninski sacrificed Young to second and Isaac Kitamura lined to center for the second out.

Zachary Kometani singled to right to score Young, and Suiter followed with a homer to left-center to make it 5-0. JUNIOR WORLD SERIES

PEARL CITY IN U.S. FINAL

Bryson Nakamura hit a two-run homer and teamed with Kurt Poentis on a five-inning four-hitter as Pearl City defeated Fort Wayne, Ind., 10-0, yesterday in the Little League Junior (ages 13-14) World Series at Taylor, Mich.

Pearl City (3-0), which clinched a berth in tomorrow's U.S. championship game, plays Florida (2-1) in its final pool play game today.

"The goal was to win the first three games to be in the position we wanted to be in," said Pearl City coach Mark Nakamura. "That way (for today's) game we could rest our top pitchers (Alika Pruett and David Lee)."

Poentis gave up one hit over the first three innings before yielding to Nakamura, who finished the game that ended early because of the mercy rule.

Nakamura's homer ignited a four-run first inning in which another run scored on an error and Jordan Casarez hit the first of his two RBI singles.

Robert Brown added a solo homer and RBI groundout for Pearl City, which is one of only two unbeaten teams in the tournament (Puerto Rico leads the international division with a 3-0 record).
