Four more years expected for Hawai'i PGA Tour events

Advertiser Staff

Formal announcements will be made later this week and next, but both Hawai'i PGA Tour events are expected to be back for at least four more years.

Officials at this week's Mercedes Championships will make their announcement during tomorrow's second round at Kapalua's Plantation Course. Sony Open in Hawai'i officials will announce their sponsorship renewal next week during their tournament at Waialae Country Club. Both events will stay at their current sites.

Sponsorship deals are tied to the Tour's television contract. The latest four-year deal is reportedly worth nearly $1 billion. The Tour's previous domestic television agreement, which ends this year, brought Mercedes to Maui and introduced the Sony Corporation to the venerable Hawaiian Open, which had been sponsored by United Airlines.
