Search for missing visitor abandoned; sharks gone

HAWAII — A three-day search for a missing man who had gone surfing off Oahu's North Shore was called off yesterday afternoon after firefighters could not find any sign of him, an official said. Shark-warning signs at Laniakea Beach, Papailoa Beach and Chun's Reef were removed at 11:30 a.m. yesterday after Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services personnel did not see any sharks in the area.
