A garden grows at shelter

It will be harvest time soon in a Wiki Garden at the Institute for Human Services women and children's shelter in Kalihi made possible by Wiki Garden owner Alan Joaquin.

The Institute for Human Services helped a handful of children plant a seedling toward sustainability yesterday in a donated "wiki garden" at the women and children's shelter in Kalihi. The garden is the brainchild of Alan Joaquin, a former Aloha Airlines pilot. He donated the garden to the shelter as a way to teach children about growing their own food, developing a sense of sustainability and learning how to care for plants. Photo gallery Video More »

The Kamehameha Warriors celebrate their win over Punahou, and with it the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I title and state tournament berth.

Quarterback T.C. Campbell passed for five touchdowns and No. 2 Kamehameha rolled over defending state champion No. 5 Punahou, 45-21, last night to capture the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I football championship at Aloha Stadium. Photo gallery More »
