Never too early for giving thanks
Today's not the only day to give thanks. Thanksgiving came early for three Hawaii golfers — Jarett Hamamoto, Michelle Wie and Ron Castillo Sr.

Golf report news and coverage
Adjustments working; looking forward to Sony
Aloha from Monterrey Peninsula, where I played in last week's Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitationa. This event isn't affiliated with the PGA Tour, but is a great chance for select pros to play some extra competitive golf and enjoy one of the most beautiful places in America.

Amateurs capture third Cup in a row
Led by young guns TJ Kua, Bradley Shigezawa and David Saka, the amateurs beat the professionals, 13-11, yesterday to make it three in a row for the first time in the 37-year history of the John A. Burns Challenge Cup.

Nordqvist prevails; Ochoa is year's best
Anna Nordqvist won the LPGA Tour Championship yesterday and Lorena Ochoa finished second to earn her fourth consecutive player of the year award, by one point over Jiyai Shin.

Ochoa, Shin dueling to final day of season
Lorena Ochoa and Jiyai Shin will settle their duel for LPGA Tour player of the year on the final, frantic day of the season. Kristy McPherson finished off a 5-under 67 in fading sunlight yesterday to move to 8 under and take the lead in the LPGA Tour Championship before the second round was suspended because of darkness.
Rain cuts LPGA event to 54 holes
More rain on already saturated grounds at The Houstonian Country Club washed out play at the LPGA Tour Championship yesterday, forcing tour officials to cut the season-ending event to 54 holes.

Wie withdraws with ankle injury
RICHMOND, Texas — Michelle Wie is gone, putting all the attention on Lorena Ochoa's player of the year fight with Jiyai Shin at the LPGA Tour Championship. Wie withdrew from the season-ending event yesterday because of a sprained left ankle, hours after Ochoa shot a 6-under 66 to take a one-shot lead over Reilley Rankin.

Paying top dollar to play with Wie
If there were any questions about the star power of Honolulu's Michelle Wie, that was answered during Tuesday's pro-am auction for this week's LPGA Tour Championship in Richmond, Texas.

Wie's win big boost for struggling LPGA
Who says winning isn't everything? For Michelle Wie, it meant everything. Not for the $220,000 she pocketed with her breakthrough LPGA victory in the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico. Just a good payday for the 20-year-old keiki o ka 'aina, whose biggest paycheck (though unofficial money) is still $255,333 after tying for second in the 2006 Evian Masters.
