'Kiss Me Kate' opens at Hawaii Theatre tonight

Iolani School performing arts department begins a three-night run of “Kiss Me Kate” at Hawaii Theatre at 7 p.m. tonight.

More than 50 student actors and musicians will perform in the Cole Porter musical about a theater company producing a musical version of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew,” with songs that include “Too Darn Hot,” “So In Love” and “Another Openin’, Another Show.” Lianne Chung, Robert Moran, Jana Souza, Webster Ross and Jackie Mosteller all play featured roles.
The play is directed by Rob Duval and choreographed by Katherine Jones — both Poçokela Award winners — and Manny Dayao provides musical direction.
