30 percent chance of showers today

The National Weather Service is reporting a 30 percent chance of scattered showers, mainly before noon today.

The showers will be less than a tenth of an inch, but later in the week, the weather service is reporting that an upper level trough that will bring heavy rainfall and a chance for thunderstorms, according to an early morning forecast. The rain is forecasted for Wednesday and Thursday and maybe linger through the weekend.

A small craft advisory has been issued for waters around Maui and the Big Island through today. Come Wednesday, a northeast swell may come along and require an advisory along east facing shores, the weather service says.
