The fall of the Berlin Wall, which divided the former East and West Germanys, marked a symbolic end to the Cold War.

Three years later, HCC history professor Rick Ziegler and a group of students succeeded in obtaining a three-ton piece of the wall for the campus. Architect Tina Mehnert, whose family fled from East Germany, fashioned a monument from the section of wall.

Monday's event starts at 1 p.m. at the monument site and will include comments from Mehnert, HCC history professor Pat Patterson, HCC chancellor Mike Rota and student leader Poima Sataua, as well as a re-consecration ceremony and a screening of a short documentary on the Berlin Wall.
