Hawaii Kai Toastmasters Announces Club 'Outstanding Toastmaster'

At their regular meeting on Monday evening, November 2, the Hawaii Kai Toastmasters club announced that Yurika Matsumori-Kelly had been selected as the Club's "Outstanding Toastmaster" for the year 2008-2009. She received the award based on her accomplishments for the year, after being nominated by her fellow club members.

Eliot De Rego, President of Hawaii Kai Toastmasters presented Yurika with a certificate and gavel as recognition of the award.

Yurika has been a member of Hawaii Kai Toastmasters since 2004. She made quick progress through various stages of accomplishment in the organization, from Toastmaster to Competent Toastmaster to Advanced Communicator Bronze. After serving as president of the club for 2008-2009, she was elected as Area 4 Governor (Kailua, Kaneohe, Nuuanu, Hawaii Kai) for 2009-2010 by District 49 (Hawaii) of the International organization.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational association with 250,000 members in more than 106 countries around the world. Since 1924, the organization has taught public speaking and leadership skills to people from all backgrounds.

The Hawaii Kai Toastmasters club meets on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00 PM at the JAIMS facility in Hawaii Kai. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact neil@neiltepper.com
