Soccer: Ronaldo's ankle injury not improving

MADRID — Real Madrid says Cristiano Ronaldo's ankle injury has not improved.

The Portugal forward, who has been sidelined by a right ankle injury for nearly one month, had a medical review Wednesday that showed no progress.

The Spanish club says that Ronaldo cannot train with the team and will continue treatment.

Madrid had been hopeful that the 24-year-old winger would be available for Saturday's derby against Atletico Madrid. Madrid trails Spanish leader Barcelona by one point after nine games.

Ronaldo has scored nine goals in seven games since his move from Manchester United, with Madrid winning each game he's played.
