2 bills facing doom during councilwoman's honeymoon

Two measures supported by Hawaii County Councilwoman Emily Naeole are expected to go down in defeat this week, because she won't be able to participate in the voting.

Naeole has informed Council Chairman J Yoshimoto she would be off island from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 because she's honeymooning on Maui. She and Raymond Beason married Oct. 24.

One measure authorizes the county to sell the 737 acres of land. The other would require the administration to come back for council approval of all major land sales.

Both are up for council action tomorrow.

They have advanced on 5-4 votes. Without Naeole present, the votes are anticipated to be 4-4, effectively killing the bills.
