Sales of both single-family homes and condominiums on Oahu rose in October from the same month a year ago, although prices softened, according to a report released today by the Honolulu Board of Realtors.

There were 281 single-family homes that sold at a median price of $605,000 in October, according to the report. That compared with 243 homes sold at a median price of $625,000 a year earlier.

Condo sales totaled 381 with a median sales price of $295,000. That compared with 316 sales at a median price of $325,000 in October 2008.

The single-family median sales price for the first 10 months of 2009 was $575,000, down 8 percent from the same period in 2008. For condos, the median sales price was $300,000 for the first 10 months of the year, down 7.7 percent from a year earlier.
