Honolulu Symphony introduces 'Holiday Duets' economical concert packages

Honolulu It's time to roll out the red carpet for Honolulu Symphony holiday concerts! This season, the Symphony introduces a new, wallet-friendly concert package starting from only $30 for two concerts. With "Holiday Duets," music lovers can double their musical pleasure by combining a ticket to Honolulu's most popular festive concert, Beethoven's Ninth, with a second concert of their choice to create a personalized "duet." Simply purchase a ticket to Beethoven's Ninth and then add-on a second concert ticket for only $10, including events such as Holiday Pops with Bla Fleck and the Flecktones. "Holiday Duets" packages offer excellent savings and are available for $30, $44, $59, $69, and $92.

The musical wonders of the season begin in November with a free, family-oriented concert on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 26. This community-building event features the Honolulu Symphony Chorus and Orchestra, and the debut of newly-appointed Chorus Director, Esther S. Yoo. No tickets are required for this informal evening that celebrates classic holiday choral music, including Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Thanksgiving weekend Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29 is the time for Holiday Pops with Bla Fleck and the Flecktones, led by Maestro Matt Catingub. Bla Fleck and the Flecktones will debut their new holiday album, "Jingle All the Way," in this concert that showcases world music and the "banjo virtuosity" of Fleck.

In December, Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" takes center stage as LOST's Jorge Garcia joins the Symphony to narrate this favorite tale. Conducted by Maestro Andreas Delfs, this joyful concert also features Stravinsky's Firebird and Michael Giacchino's fun-filled and flavorful music for the film "Ratatouille."

No New Year's celebration would be complete without Beethoven's Ninth, led by Maestro Andreas Delfs on Saturday, December 27. This grand celebration is a holiday tradition around the world that inspires concertgoers with hope and optimism.

There's no chance of the January blues celebrated jazz saxophonist Dave Koz is coming to town. Maestro Matt Catingub and the Toyota Pops welcome Koz on Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17 as he showcases time-honored pop classics.

Everyone is invited to celebrate the season of peace and goodwill with splendid symphonic music, featuring traditional classics and contemporary favorites. Special guests, the Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus, join the Honolulu Symphony Chorus and Orchestra for this festive evening. Musical highlights include J.S. Bach's Magnificat, Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols and John Rutter's Gloria. No tickets or reservations are required.
