Democratic presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and his wife, Michelle, will appear tomorrow afternoon at a public event at Ke'ehi Lagoon Beach Park to mark his return to the Islands.

Gates will open for the free event at 12:30 p.m.

The Hawai'i-born Democrat will spend about a week in the Islands for a vacation. His only other scheduled event is a private fundraiser on Tuesday night at the Kahala Resort.
