The Honolulu Police Commission heard public testimony on the candidates in the running for police chief.

Some citizens, a retired police officer and the police union president all testified.

Commission Chairwoman Christine Camp says more than 100 people submitted written testimonies. But she said the testimony was not being released.

The commission then went into executive session and plans to reconvene on Monday. A decision on the new police chief could come on Wednesday.

The finalists are Acting Chief Paul Putzulu, Honolulu police Capt. Louis Kealoha, Phoenix police Cmdr. Harry Markley, Chicago police Cmdr. Gary Yamashiroya, HPD assistant chiefs Delbert Tatsuyama and Debora Tandal.

The hearing is being held at HPD headquarters, first-floor conference room A, 801 S. Beretania St.
