Gov. Linda Lingle has released $203.1 million for renovations and new construction at University of Hawai'i campuses throughout the state.

The projects include improvements to the Campus Center at the Manoa campus and the Student Services Building at UH-Hilo.

A new Hawaiian Language building at UH-Hilo is also getting funding, as is a new Cancer Research Center at the UH School of Medicine in Honolulu.

The money for these projects and others was appropriated by the Legislature earlier this year.

The governor's office notes the work will stimulate Hawai'i's economy and create jobs.

Officials say funds for the capital renewal and deferred maintenance projects are part of the state's continuing efforts to address the backlog of repair and maintenance projects.
