Police said the woman was with several friends and was in a crosswalk at the intersection of King and Coolidge streets about 10:30 a.m. when she was hit.

The driver of the car was a 60-year-old woman.

The pedestrian was in the second lane, crossing makai to mauka at the time.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's Emergency Services Department, said the woman may have have been dragged about 30 feet after being struck.

City paramedics were dispatched at 10:46 a.m. They treated and stabilized the woman before transporting her to a trauma center in critical condition, Cheplic said.

Police originally shut down all six east-bound lanes of King Street, but have since reopened two lanes.
