Walmart is holding grand re-opening ceremonies this week for its Hilo and Kahului stores following four months of renovation work.

The discount retailer said improvements include wider aisles that no longer include product displays, enhanced lighting, low-profile shelving and expanded food and electronics departments.

Re-opening events are scheduled for Wednesday at the Hilo store and Thursday at the Kahului store. Both events will begin with a traditional Hawaiian blessing at 8 a.m. followed by local entertainment and presentations of financial grants to local service organizations.
