Dozens of cars and several hundred people are lining Kaumualii Highway between Hanapepe and Waimea in anticipation of a procession of cane haul trucks that will mark the end of the sugar industry on Kauai.

Some people had signs thanking Gay & Robinson for the company's 120 years in sugar.

Families were camped out tailgate-style waiting for the sugar cane trucks to come by on their ceremonial last pass as the company completed its final harvest today.

Several police cars were at Makaweli where the cane haul trucks were going to start the procession, going first to Waimea and then to Hanapepe and concluding at the mill in Kaumakani.
