Woman, 20, arrested after punching police officer

A 20-year-old Wahiawa woman was arrested late Saturday night after she punched and scratched a police officer at the Kapolei Police Station following her earlier arrest on suspicion of drunken driving, police said.

According to a police report:

The woman was arrested at 590 Farrington Highway Saturday night on suspicion of drunken driving. At about 11 p.m. after she had been taken to the Kapolei station, she left the squad car and tried to escape. When an officer intervened, she punched him and scratched his face.

She was being held at the station last night pending investigation on suspicion of drunken driving, escape and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

The officer was treated and released at Hawaii Medical Center West. The woman was not injured.
