Big Islands authorities, the military and dozens of volunteers searched 6,000 square miles of ocean with no sign of the 23-year-old Kona commercial fisherman who had been out in rough seas south of the Big Island with his brother.

The missing fisherman, Devin Johnson, is believed to have gone overboard about 60 miles south of Kona while his brother, Gus Johnson, was sleeping below deck.

The Coast Guard notified Johnson's family last night that unless there's new information identifying where he might be located, they could not continue searching for him.
